What is EcoGridle Mode?
EcoGridle Mode (EcoGridleMod) is a custom power-saving system developed by SXZ Universe that operates at the display rendering level. It intelligently manages individual pixels on AMOLED screens to reduce power consumption — without compromising the watch face experience.
On AMOLED displays, each pixel emits its own light. Black pixels are completely off and consume zero power. EcoGridle Mode leverages this by selectively disabling pixels in a calculated grid pattern, significantly reducing the number of active pixels while keeping the watch face readable and visually appealing.
How It Works
EcoGridle Mode applies a pixel grid overlay during the always-on display (AOD) state. The technique works by:
1. Pixel Analysis
The system analyzes the current watch face layout and identifies which pixels can be disabled with minimal visual impact.
2. Grid Pattern Application
A calculated grid pattern is applied, turning off alternating pixels. The density of disabled pixels depends on the selected eco level.
3. Smart Preservation
Critical elements like time digits, complications, and icons retain full pixel density to ensure readability at all times.
Three Levels of Savings
No Eco
0%EcoGridle is turned off. All pixels remain fully active — no battery saving applied. Full visual quality with standard power consumption.
Medium Eco
~25%Balanced mode — alternating pixels are dimmed during always-on display, maintaining readability with noticeable battery gains.
Max Eco
~40%Every 2nd pixel is disabled on the AMOLED panel. Maximum battery extension with a slightly visible grid pattern.
